The Other Half of Asperger Syndrome is the new Healing of Cassandra workshop and is for those who are in a relationship with a partner affected by Asperger syndrome. This is regardless of whether the relationship is hetero-sexual or homosexual. Many AS/non-AS relationships are successful, this though is highly dependent on both partners being aware of Asperger's and accepting the differences in how each processes information and how each has a different set of needs. The workshop is not about berating partners on the spectrum, it takes a practical and positive focus reinforcing an individual's control and choice in the relationship.
The workshop will run on Friday 28th February 2020 from 10.00 am to 4.30 pm and will be an interactive day of sharing, exercises and learning with a focus on building self-esteem and confidence.
The aim of the workshop is to increase understanding and a sense of self, and to offer the opportunity to meet others who are in a similar situation. This workshop looks to restore the equilibrium and put balance back into the non-AS partner's life, so they will feel stronger and more secure in their relationship and the expectations they have of themselves and their partner. The one day workshop will cover issues such as choice, control, self-esteem, self-care, realistic expectations, mindfulness and a sense of self. As humans we need to have a sense of belonging and a feeling of being understood. Being with others that we relate to is a therapeutic process in itself and can remove the feelings of being alone as the group bonds together. Due to the importance of this bonding, the workshop is for the non-AS partner only.
Maxine's workshops have been run in the past and proved to be highly successful.
